When it became fashionable to be patriotic, my parents put a flag outside of our house. Another on on the car. Me? I admired the (likely retired military) older gentleman that has had a flag flying, properly displayed, lit at night since 1999. And I explained to anyone who asked, that I thought that displaying my rainbow flag and my leather pride flag on my car was "patriotic" because it was taking advantage of the freedoms that our government allows (the same freedoms that the people that we're figting can't stand). Yes, everyone has or had a flag (and most did not have any clue how to treat it with the proper respect that it deserves). If you see a flag (or little flaglets) at the BBQ, or a yellow ribbon, it's not because it's fashionable or because I found a post 4th of July sale. Rather, it's because there will be guys out in the cradle of civilization, getting their fair skin sunburnt instead of drinking beer and watching chocolate pudding wrestling. Come home safely and soon, my friend.
