2003-07-17 - 1:06 p.m. OK, I bitch about work often enough (including today's check run which hasn't even happened yet). But There are reasons that I stick around. Money won't be in my checking until tomorrow, but the CFO knows that I'm throwing a BBQ and when I looked more than a little worried/dismayed, he asked me what the "magic number" would be to get me through until tomorrow. And gave me a cash advance out of petty cash to the tune of $200. End result: keg is paid for and all set for Saturday, and I have gas money for the insane trip I'm making tonight, and maybe even a little left over for a drink while watching CHUMP at Jimmy's Haunt tonight. After today's stress, I think I'm gonna need it. And tomorrow the $$$$.$$ should be all direct deposited tomorrow to do the major shopping. And if I'm very lucky, there might even be a new grill and tools at home when I get back. Jenny offered to do some shopping for me while she's out today. She rocks. ALOT. I left her a blank check for reimbursement purposes. She is one of the three people in the world I would ever give a blank check to (the other two being my father and my sister). I fully expect receipts photocopied, highlighted and sales tax calculated to the penny (just because that's the way she is). And With the crazy web that is my family, my mother's cousin Gina's ex-husband Bobby's father Frank passed away last night (78 years old, congestive heart failure - he died in his sleep. Rest in peace big guy). So Jim, my mother's cousin Annette's (who is of course Gina's sister) husband who is giving me the two computers is going to be paying his respects tonight. So my schedule has been thrown off a little bit. Work gave me the ok to leave at 4:30 so that I can pick up my son and be in Manalapan (which ranks among the cool words like banana, papaya, canada) by 5pm, before they leave to go pay their respects to Bobby's family (who lives, by the way near me - go figure). And apparently both computers are still hooked up, so I will be crawling under the computer desk (with the short black skirt on, no less) and ripping them out of the wall. Fabulous. But you can't really argue with a free computer. This also puts me at Grandma's by 6pm (which means that I might be out of there by 7:30 if I tell them I have to leave RIGHT AWAY). Which puts me back in my area by 8:30. And the band doesn't take the stage until 10pm. The bar is a half an hour north, so I might even have an hour to myself *gasp*. Yes, I think that I am skipping the business meeting.
