Quote a day strikes again: Trying to determine what is going on in the world by reading newspapers is like trying to tell the time by watching the second hand of a clock. ~ Ben Hecht Was chatting online with the serviceman the other day. He asked "read the papers?" My answer yes (moreso now than before). His reply, "We've been busy" Indeed. And we never get the whole story. And he can't talk about it. But he assures me that he still has all his fingers and toes. Gee, I guess you can't assume these things, can you. It's really pretty grounding to talk with him. I am made painfully aware of so many things that I take for granted. Like rain. And basic physical safety. And the ability to speak about my life candidly. But he's the only one that got sent pudding wrestling pictures. Doing my part to further the war effort and boost morale.
