2003-07-29 - 9:19 a.m. I miss reading dragon entries. Yes, she's been sunning her scales on a beach somewhere in Florida, quite probably attracting all kinds of creatures by her very presence. But I miss reading her very unique slant on things - long thoughtful passages, serious, but hilarious in their own ways. I also miss the dragon herself. Come fall, she should be back in the area. Deceptively small physical presence (to most human perception at any rate), the world, fire and ice in her eyes. She's good for my spirit. The other day, someone at work got a new parrot - an African Gray (congo), just a baby and so very sweet. I knew that the dragon would have loved to have met it (him/her - hasn't been determined yet ... but I bet she would have had a good guess). The head of HR is a bird lady too. She has 8 parrots and chops them all fresh vegetables every morning (and I quote "seed is crap") before her 70 mile commute (that's each direction, not round trip). Yes, she's nuts. I think that the dragon would like her. I also think that she would have liked the smoke bubbles I was blowing this weekend. Inhale from a cigarette and exhale the smoke through a bubble blowing wand, forming smoke filled bubbles that do not disappate, but pop in a puff of smoke. Irridescent sheen over roiling smoke - temporary crystal balls floating overhead. It's as close as I get to breathing fire. I have decided that this pack of smokes will be my last for a while. My on-again-off-again relationship with cigarettes will be in an off phase. Being in the water this weekend reminded me of how good being healthy used to feel. I want that back. And me and my quiet tenacity will get there again.
