Ready?

Thursday the hives got so bad that I voluntarily called a doctor - an allergist/immunologist. Wore a tank top and shorts, and looked like a freak show, all of my exposed skin including my face covered in hives. They gave me a cortizone shot in the office and 3 prescriptions. Went to drop off the prescriptions at Wal-Mart so that we could still make it to the Indigo Girls concert in NYC. And while we were there, the power went out. Fabulous. Called the Doctor's office, who told me to come back to their office and they would give me some samples to tide me over until I could rescue my prescriptions from the WalMart on Friday. Luckily, the concert was rescheduled (date TBA), so we didn't miss it completely. It's probably better that we weren't able to stick to the original plan of going in and spending the day ... or we would have been among those stuck there.

So instead, once the hives cleared up (Allegra is wonderful stuff) we went out to dinner Outback style ... and met someone from online - very nice guy. Jenny even gave her nod of approval (and she's somewhat protective of me, generally speaking). He even got an invitation back to my place - it was a nice night ;)

Picked up my prescriptions on Friday and tried to figure out how long I could go between doses of antihistimine (because the Allegra took an hour and 15 minutes to kick in - which translates to an hour and a half of itching Hell). Colored my hair (still blonde). And Friday night, helped out someone in need - among other things. Was good for me to see proof that "no matter how bad your situation is, someone else always has it worse" - put my itching in proper perspective.

Saturday was my cousin's new baby's Christening, so I got all done up and went to spend time with my dad's side of the family. Still contended with off and on hives all day, but on the whole, it was much better.

Today was lazy, and much less hive-y. In fact, I think it's subsiding. Maybe it's just that I've been away from work for long enough to get most of the mold out of my system. Yeah, I think it's the mold that I'm allergic to. Which would suck. But I'm scheduled to go back to the allergist for scratch tests on Thursday after work. If it's mold, I'm going to try to get the allergist to write me a note for disability until work gets rid of the mold. The mold has been building since the water main break and flood a month or so ago - you can smell it when you walk in the door - it's disgusting ... and it's in the walls and airborne. Not an easy or cheap endeavor to clean. Out to dinner again (social butterfly lately, aren't I?) with some beautiful people. And we're going to watch a movie and eat ice cream and popcorn. Yummy!

And I sent out an invite for next weekend that I'm waiting for an answer back on.

Weekend after that: Inner harbor, Baltimore Maryland.
